​Let's Make a Difference

My name is Robert Abarbanell.  I am a doctor, husband and father of two wonderful children.  I worked my way through college and medical school as a fire department paramedic routinely risking my life to help others.  Today I am an emergency physician with over 30 years experience working in some of the largest trauma centers in the country. I also am involved in several charity organizations helping the poor and have my own scholarship fund established over 30 years ago to help pay for college for economically disadvantaged high school students.   My entire career has been devoted to helping others during their time of need.  I have never gone to my government for help with anything until this past year.  Unfortunately, my experience has been the most disappointing imaginable.  This is my story. This is why I am running to be your County Commissioner for District 3.

 

My wife and children and I moved to Melbourne Beach this past October.  Moving here was supposed to be our dream home, however it has turned into our worst nightmare.  A small beach access near our home has unfortunately served as a focal point in our community which has been allowing dangerous and violent people to harass and intimidate our entire neighborhood while destroying our beaches and conservation lands.  Since moving in only a few short months ago, our home has been burglarized and vandalized repeatedly.  People routinely trespass onto our property to threaten us, as well as urinate and defecate in our yard on a daily basis.  Our neighbors are suffering the same issues.  We are afraid every day for our safety.  We are calling the police to our home for help constantly.  My wife is afraid to even go outside and she will not let our children play in our own yard.  When we and our neighbors have gone to the county for help we have been dismissed every step of the way.  No one has offered us any meaningful help whatsoever and most have not even returned our phone calls.  As a father with small children being threatened every day I am disgusted by our government's total lack of concern and help for my family’s and community’s safety.

 

I can do a better job than the people we have in office now.  We need people in our government who care about safety, communities and families.  This is why I am running to be your County Commissioner for District 3.

 

I may not have political experience or government connections.  I may not have an answer to every question…but if elected I will respond to people, listen to them and make a meaningful effort to help them.  I will care.

 

Please vote for me for County Commissioner of District 3 because our community needs someone who will actually try to help.
